Gradual Changes
December 8, 2007It's been a while since I've updated this website but some big changes are on the way… hopefully. Not being much of a writer, I'm usually quick and to-the-point. So, in keeping with that tradition, I'll get straight to the purpose of this post—talking about my plans for the future of this website.
Writing Useful Technical Content
Like many people, when I run into a problem that I'm not altogether knowledgeable about (yes, no one's perfect), I turn to my friend Google. However, while Google's results have improved from its early beginnings, I still find myself constantly modifying my search words and phrases, attempting to find some decent results. Perhaps, it's because my search queries are usually of a technical nature but more often it's because web publishers and bloggers just don't know how to write for someone that's looking for information quickly. I plan on writing simple and quick solutions to some of the more complicated design/programming issues I come across in the future. Hopefully, I can help out the next person searching Google for a similar problem.
Spare Time Projects
I wouldn't be in the web development field if it wasn't something that I loved doing. So, sometimes when I get a spare hour or two, I like to work on a project that I feel would benefit the web as a whole. Because I have no deadlines or boundaries to work within for these projects, I feel free to take my time and explore new possibilities. I'll be releasing the full source code free of charge. I'll also try to keep my progress on these projects updated regularly.
Portfolio and Services
As a bit of a perfectionist, it's difficult for me to choose work to place in a portfolio. I still need to sort through a lot of past projects to find some work that is representive of what I offer.
I'm also adding a services page so that potential clients can get a better idea of what I have to offer. That doesn't mean that if it's not listed, I won't do it. If you need an estimate for any web-related project, I'll be more than happy to oblige.
These are all gradual changes that I will be making to this website, and as much as I hate having all of the "under construction" areas, I'm hoping it will motivate me to get the job done.
